More News You Can Use: ID & Treat Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease contracted by both dogs & humans via deer tick bite (not common dog ticks or other varieties) One-in-ten deer tick carries Lyme disease. Left untreated, it can affect your dog's major organs like his heart, lungs, and liver.
Symptoms
Lyme disease is often multi-symptomatic. Warning signs include fever, swollen lymph nodes or joints, lameness, loss of appetite and lethargy.
Treatment
A Lyme disease vaccine is available for dogs, but it is far better to prevent a tick from burrowing into your dog in the first place. Quick removal of a tick also will help prevent Lyme disease, because the tick must remain attached to the dog’s body for at least 24 hours before the disease can be transmitted.
Use of tick repellents or medications that kill ticks on contact (such as Frontline Plus available at Dharma Dog) is your dog's best defense against this tick-borne disease.
In humans, Lyme disease can be cured with antibiotics if diagnosed in the early stages.

We’e located at the Horn Pond Plaza, next to Whole Foods Market on the Winchester/Woburn town line. We offer a great retail section, a self-service dog wash and a wonderful full-service groomer. No appointment is needed for the dog wash. Full-service grooming is by appointment.
